Bill Maynard was a British comedian and actor known for his roles in popular sitcoms such as Oh No It's Selwyn Froggitt and The Gaffer. He appeared in the Carry On film series and had a notable stint as Claude Jeremiah Greengrass in the long-running television series Heartbeat from 1992 to 2000. Maynard began his career in the 1950s, performing in repertory theatre and touring army camps with Jon Pertwee.
