Biography

Geoffrey William Hughes was a British actor born on February 2, 1944, who rose to fame for his portrayal of Eddie Yeats in Coronation Street from 1974 to 1983 and its return in 1987. He also voiced Paul McCartney in the animated film Yellow Submarine (1968) and played Onslow in the sitcom Keeping Up Appearances (1990-1995). Hughes had a notable role as Vernon Scripps in the ITV police drama Heartbeat from 2001 to 2005.
