Douglas Wilmer

Biography

Douglas Norman Wilmer was an English actor born on January 8, 1920, in Brentford, Middlesex, to a family with international connections. He attended King's School and Stonyhurst College before being accepted into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he honed his craft. Wilmer served in the British Army during World War II and later gained recognition for playing Sherlock Holmes in the 1965 TV series, as well as notable roles in films such as "The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother" and "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad".
