Philip Van der Byl was a South African actor who made his film debut in the 1973 Western "They Call Me Lucky". He gained international recognition for his roles in science fiction films like "Prisoners of the Lost Universe" (1983) and "Tigerman" (1990), as well as fantasy productions based on John Norman's novels. After a career spanning the 1970s to the 1990s, Van der Byl retired from acting around 1990.
