He graduated from Miyazaki University's Faculty of Agriculture and later joined the New Japan Theater Company, among others. Tomita was known for his roles in films such as "Gojira tai Megaro" and television dramas, often playing intelligent and dignified characters. He passed away on June 10, 2004, at the age of 79, due to pneumonia.
