Terry Gilkyson was a folk singer and songwriter born Hamilton Henry Gilkyson on June 17, 1916, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He wrote and recorded several hit songs, including "The Cry of the Wild Goose", "Tell Me a Story", and "The Bare Necessities". Gilkyson's music career spanned the 1940s to the 1950s, with notable collaborations with The Weavers and Easy Riders.
