He is best known for his role as Kirk Devane on the first two seasons of Newhart, and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his work on WKRP in Cincinnati in 1981. Kampmann has also written and directed several films, including Buzzkill, and has credits in TV shows like L.A. Law and SCTV.
