Biography

Mike Dirnt, born Michael Ryan Pritchard on May 4, 1972, is an American rock musician and co-founder of Green Day. Raised in Oakland and El Sobrante, California, he formed a musical bond with Billie Joe Armstrong at Carquinez Middle School, bonding over punk rock influences. As a teenager, Dirnt played air bass and developed the nickname "Dirnt" from his friends. He is the band's co-founder, bassist, backing vocalist, and occasional lead vocalist.
