Yoko Ono

Biography

Yoko Ono is a Japanese artist, musician, and peace activist born on February 18, 1933. She moved to New York City in 1952 and became known for her involvement with the downtown artists scene and her marriage to John Lennon of the Beatles in 1969. Ono achieved commercial success with her album Double Fantasy in 1980 and has continued to support gay rights, arts, and peace initiatives throughout her career.
