Sofía Álvarez was a Colombian-Mexican actress and singer born in Bogotá on May 23, 1913, who rose to fame in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema with notable roles in films such as "La Reina de la Opereta" (1945) and her collaborations with Mario Moreno Cantinflas and Pedro Infante. She also performed with Arturo de Córdova in her final film, "El Gángster," released in 1965.
