Biography

Natar Ungalaaq is a Canadian Inuk actor, filmmaker, and sculptor from Igloolik, NU, born in 1959. He began carving at age 9 with his grandfather's tools and went on to co-found Isuma Productions with Zacharias Kunuk, producing films like Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner (2001) and earning awards for Best Actor, including the American Indian Movie Awards in 2002. Ungalaaq has also directed and produced numerous films and is a renowned carver whose works are featured in major collections, including the National Gallery of Canada.
