Óscar Arístides de la Renta y Fiallo was a renowned Dominican fashion designer born in Santo Domingo on July 22, 1932. He trained under prominent couturiers Cristóbal Balenciaga and Antonio del Castillo before dressing the iconic Jacqueline Kennedy in the 1960s. De la Renta founded his eponymous fashion house, with boutiques worldwide, including a flagship on Manhattan's Madison Avenue.
