Vyacheslav Tikhonov was a renowned Soviet and Russian actor born on February 8, 1928, in Pavlovsky Posad near Moscow. He began his acting career after graduating from VGIK with honours in 1950 and went on to earn several state awards, including People's Artist of the USSR and Hero of Socialist Labour. Tikhonov was known for iconic roles such as Stierlitz in "Seventeen Moments of Spring" and Andrei Bolkonsky in "War and Peace".
