Stephen Roberts

Biography

Stephen Roberts was an American film director born in Summersville, West Virginia. Before entering the film industry, he had a storied career as an aviator during World War I, later using his aerial skills to perform death-defying stunts with a flying circus. Roberts broke into motion pictures as a silent film director a decade earlier, before transitioning to directing talking comedies for Universal Pictures in 1930. He later joined Paramount Pictures.
