Gordon McLendon

Biography

Gordon Barton McLendon was a renowned American radio broadcaster known for perfecting the Top 40 format and pioneering offshore pirate radio broadcasting to Scandinavia and the British Isles in the 1950s and 1960s. He also gained recognition as Dr. Radford Baines in the 1959 film "The Killer Shrews." McLendon's entrepreneurial spirit extended to his involvement with conservative business and political circles, until his death in 1986.
