"Laplace's Witch" is a 2018 Japanese mystery thriller film directed by Takashi Miike, based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Keigo Higashino. An environmental analyst, Shusuke Aoe (Shō Sakurai), is asked to determine if two deaths by hydrogen sulfide poisoning are accidents or murders, and meets a young woman, Madoka Uhara (Suzu Hirose), at both crime scenes, sparking a scientific mystery.
