Vazante

Vazante is a Brazilian-Portuguese historical drama adventure film about slavery in 1820s Brazil, directed by Daniela Thomas. The film follows Antonio (Adriano Carvalho), a cattle herder who returns home to find his wife has died in childbirth along with their son, and marries his wife's niece, Beatriz (Luana Nastas). As the leader of the African slaves he imported dies during a journey, Antonio is saved by this slave, only to re-enslave him. The film explores themes of slavery, marriage, and family dynamics as Beatriz becomes pregnant with a child fathered by one of her enslaved friends, leading to tragic consequences.
