In 1965, a daring experiment went catastrophically wrong, threatening to split the Earth in two. Dr. Steven Sorenson's plan to tap into the geothermal energy beneath the planet's surface using a thermonuclear device detonated deep within the Earth's crust accidentally unleashed a cataclysmic destruction that would have been apocalyptic.
