"But I'm a Cheerleader" is a 1999 American satirical teen romantic comedy film that tells the story of Megan, an all-American cheerleader sent to a "sexual redirection" camp after her parents worry she might be a lesbian. Forced to confront her true identity, Megan discovers she's indeed a lesbian and, despite the camp's attempts to convert her, comes to embrace her sexuality. The film, directed by Jamie Babbit in her feature directorial debut, explores themes of social construction of gender roles and heteronormativity through its colorful production design and performances from its lead actors, including Natasha Lyonne and Clea DuVall.
