In a dystopian future, Christian Bale plays John Preston, a high-ranking Cleric in a totalitarian regime that controls citizens with emotion-suppressing drugs. After accidentally missing his daily dose, Preston begins to uncover the inner workings of the regime and develops an emotional relationship with a Sense Offender, leading him to join a resistance movement. As he navigates the complex web of intrigue and deception, Preston must confront his own morality and ultimately decide whether to destroy the system or find a way to coexist within it.
