Brokedown Palace

Two American friends, Alice Marano (Claire Danes) and Darlene Davis (Kate Beckinsale), are jailed in Thailand for allegedly smuggling heroin while on vacation. After graduating from high school, they meet a captivating Australian man, Nick Parks, who turns out to be a drug smuggler. The girls' claim that their bag was planted is dismissed, and they are sentenced to 33 years in prison. With the help of an expatriate American attorney, Hank Greene (Bill Pullman), Darlene learns the truth about her friend's involvement and works with Hank to secure her release, while Alice takes the blame for both sentences.
