When Scotty Thomas, a recent high school graduate from Youngstown, Ohio, discovers that his German pen pal Mieke is actually a gorgeous young woman, he and his friends embark on a wild adventure across Europe to find her and apologize in person. Along the way, they encounter awkward, humorous, and embarrassing situations, including a night of debauchery in Amsterdam and a chaotic visit to the Vatican. As Scotty navigates his feelings for Mieke, he must also confront his own insecurities and learn to take responsibility for his actions.
