Barbara Sukowa stars as Rosa Luxemburg, a Polish socialist and Marxist who tirelessly campaigns for revolution in early 20th century Germany, forming the Spartacist League with Daniel Olbrychski's Character Name (Actor Name) Leo Jogiches. Throughout her journey, she faces imprisonment and clashes with comrades, including Otto Sander's Character Name (Actor Name) Karl Liebknecht, as Luxemburg ultimately becomes a target of assassination for her leadership in the Spartacist uprising after World War I in 1919.
