Grace of My Heart

In 1958, Philadelphia steel heiress Edna Buxton enters and wins a talent contest, only to be steered towards stardom by producer Joel Milner who renames her "Denise Waverly" and reworks her song for a male doo-wop group. As she settles in New York City, Denise becomes a songwriter in the Brill Building, penning hits like "Unwanted Number" with husband Howard Caszatt, but their relationship is strained by his philandering ways. When Joel recruits new partner Cheryl Steed, Denise finds herself bonding with her over their shared experiences as women in male-dominated industries, and together they write coded songs for female singers like Kelly Porter. Ultimately, Denise's commercial success comes to an end when her single flops, but she finds solace with Jay Phillips of the Riptides, who becomes a romantic partner, only to take his own life, leaving Denise heartbroken and grappling with grief, ultimately leading her to create the platinum-selling album "Grace of My Heart".
