In a dystopian near-future England, Britain's biggest pop singer, Steven Shorter, is the ultimate puppet for the government, promoting their agenda to adoring fans who can't see beyond his celebrity status. As he becomes increasingly disillusioned with his handlers' manipulation, he meets Vanessa Ritchie, an artist commissioned to paint his portrait, who pushes him to question his obedience. The film takes a semi-documentary approach, presenting Shorter's story as a narrator, and features a blend of action, comedy, drama, music, and science fiction elements that explore themes of control, free will, and the power of celebrity.
