Arn: The Knight Templar

Arn Magnusson (Joakim Nätterqvist), son of a powerful Swedish nobleman, is educated in a monastery and sent to the Holy Land as a knight templar to do penance for his forbidden love with Cecilia Algotsdotter (Sofia Helin). Arn becomes embroiled in the struggle between powerful families fighting for the crown of Västra Götaland, helping his friend Knut Eriksson kill the old king Karl Sverkersson and later participating in a successful ambush against Saladin's army. Along the way, he is given the order to intercept the Saracens before they reach Jerusalem, and after saving Saladin's life, Arn receives a letter discharging him from his service in the Holy Land.
