The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc

In 1429, a French teenager named Joan of Arc (Milla Jovovich) claims to have received messages from God that she will defeat the world's greatest army and liberate her country from its political and religious turmoil. As she reclaims God's diminished kingdom, this courageous young woman has various amazing victories until her violent and untimely death. She witnesses the atrocities of the English against her family, leads the French in battle against the occupying English, and eventually captures several key fortresses, including Orléans and the Tourelles. Her success inspires King Charles VII (John Malkovich) to take the throne, but she is ultimately captured by the English, tried for heresy, and executed for her religious conviction.
