Morris Bliss, a 35-year-old man stuck in New York City inertia, is catapulted into an awkward relationship with Stephanie, the 18-year-old daughter of his former classmate, forcing him to confront his stagnant life and open up in ways long overdue. As Morris navigates his way through a tangled web of relationships, including advances from a married neighbor, he must confront his emotional walls and learn to take control of his life. The film is an adaptation of Douglas Light's novel "East Fifth Bliss," directed by Michael Knowles and starring Michael C. Hall, Brie Larson, Peter Fonda, and Lucy Liu.
