Phantom of the Paradise

In this darkly comedic rock musical, a naive young singer-songwriter Winslow Leach is tricked into sacrificing his life's work by unscrupulous music producer Swan, who then steals Winslow's most adored singer, Phoenix, to perform at his new concert hall, The Paradise. In revenge, Winslow dons a menacing mask and wreaks havoc on Swan's establishment, insisting his music be performed. The film is loosely based on classic works including the Faust legend, Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Gaston Leroux's The Phantom of the Opera, with a score by Paul Williams that has become iconic.
