A Denver reporter, Garret Smith (Charles Bronson), investigates the mass murder of a family of Mormons in rural Colorado, uncovering a conspiracy by The Colorado Water Company to start a family feud among fundamentalist Mormons to take their land. He is aided by local editor Jastra Watson (Trish Van Devere) and faces opposition from businessman Homer Foxx (Laurence Luckinbill), who is revealed to be behind the murders.
