The NeverEnding Story

Bastian Balthazar Bux, a shy boy who lives with his widowed father Barney, finds refuge in a bookstore when he's being bullied by classmates. He secretly takes a mysterious book called The Neverending Story and hides to read it, introducing him to the magical world of Fantasia where he learns that its benevolent Childlike Empress is dying and only he can save it. Atreyu, a young warrior given an amulet called Auryn to guide him on his quest, faces various challenges as he seeks help from the Ivory Tower to find a cure for the Empress's illness. Ultimately, Bastian's imagination brings Fantasia back to life with his reading of the book, and he gets to see the land and its inhabitants restored.
