Not Without My Daughter

An American woman, Betty Mahmoody, is trapped in Islamic Iran by her brutish husband, Sayyed "Moody" Bozorg Mahmoody, who holds their daughter Mahtob hostage. After a two-week visit to Iran that turns into an extended imprisonment, Betty must find a way to escape with her daughter as they face abuse and mistreatment at the hands of Moody and his family in a country caught in war. With the help of Houssein, a kind Iranian storekeeper, Betty devises a plan to flee, aided by fake identity documents and support from humanitarian Iranians. Ultimately, Betty and Mahtob make it back to the United States, where Betty divorces Moody and dedicates herself to helping others in similar situations, as told through her memoir "Not Without My Daughter."
