Heat and Dust

Heat and Dust is a 1983 British historical romantic drama film that follows two intertwined stories set in 1920s India and 1982. The first story centers around Olivia (Greta Scacchi), a young wife of a British colonial official, who becomes embroiled in an illicit affair with the Nawab (Shashi Kapoor) while her friend Harry Hamilton-Paul enjoys a close intimacy with the Nawab at his palace. In 1982, Anne (Julie Christie), Olivia's great-niece, travels to India to investigate her great-aunt's life and also becomes embroiled in an affair with Inder Lal, a married Indian man who is her guide in Satipur.
