The Squid and the Whale

In 1986, Brooklyn's Park Slope is set ablaze as Bernard Berkman and his third wife Joan announce their divorce to their two sons, Walt and Frank. As tensions rise between the parents, Walt struggles to cope with the stress of his parents' relationship breakdown, while Frank's rebellion against his father's fading influence takes a strange turn. Meanwhile, Bernard's own failing career and recent tryst with one of his students threaten to upend the family's already fractured dynamic.
