In a not-too-distant future, undercover cop Bob Arctor is tasked with infiltrating the underworld of Substance D, a powerful drug that has swept the country and left approximately 20 percent of the population addicted. As he delves deeper into the world of D, Arctor's own identity begins to unravel, threatening to destroy his carefully constructed cover. With a vision of a peaceful life that seems increasingly distant, Arctor becomes entangled in a web of paranoia and deception, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.
