Hope Floats

Chicago housewife Birdee Pruitt is invited on a national talk show under false pretenses, only to be ambushed with the revelation that her husband has been having an affair with her best friend. Humiliated, she and her daughter Bernice move back to Birdee's hometown of Smithville, Texas, where they face a hostile reception from old acquaintances who are thrilled to see Birdee unhappy - except for her friend Justin, who helps her get back on her feet and blossoms into love with her.
