This documentary follows "reality patients" with chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes as they adopt a whole-foods, plant-based diet under the guidance of doctors like Caldwell Esselstyn Jr. and T. Colin Campbell. The film examines the idea that food can be medicine, using cameras to capture the challenges and triumphs of these patients' journeys. Character Lee Fulkerson appears alongside other physicians as himself, sharing his own experience with adopting a plant-based diet.
