Birds of Passage

In the late 1960s, Zaida, a young Wayuu woman, comes of age and is proposed to by Rapayet, a man who will soon drag her family into a world of violence and corruption as they enter the lucrative marijuana trade. As their business flourishes, Rapayet's loyalty is tested by his friendship with Moisés, leading to a devastating chain of events that destroy their traditional way of life and ultimately lead to their downfall. Directed by Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra, Birds of Passage is a haunting epic crime film that explores the clash between old-world tradition and new-world corruption in 1970s Colombia.
