The Contract

In the 1978 Hong Kong comedy film "The Contract," struggling actor Chih-Wen (Michael Hui) is caught between a rock and a hard place: his lucrative but suffocating eight-year contract with MTV Studios, where he's been relegated to just one live performance, versus a new opportunity with a rival company that promises better deals and more creative freedom. Desperate for change, Chih-Wen teams up with his scientist-aspiring brother (Ricky Hui) and magician friend (Sam Hui), who uses their unique skills to outwit the ruthless manager and steal the contract from under her nose. With plenty of action, humor, and heart, this film is a wildly entertaining ride that's full of twists and turns as Chih-Wen navigates his way towards stardom.
