Nick Stark (Eric Roberts), a gay architect HIV-positive, is diagnosed with progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy and prepares to die alone, but his estranged lover Brandon (Gregory Harrison) shows up at his farewell party, complicating the event's emotional tone. Amalia Stark (Lee Grant) tries to help Nick cope with his illness. Olivia Newton-John plays Lina Bingham, a close friend of the Stark family.
