Funny Lady

Barbra Streisand stars as Fanny Brice, who is struggling to find work as an artist during the Great Depression, until she meets Billy Rose (James Caan), a newcomer who writes lyrics and owns a nightclub in New York City. After Fanny records one of Rose's songs, they collaborate on a show called Crazy Quilt, which eventually becomes a success despite some initial disasters. The film follows their lively relationship, including their marriage, which turns out to be less than ideal.
