In 1988, Mark O'Brien, a poet and polio survivor, lives in an iron lung due to complications from his childhood illness. After consulting his priest about losing his virginity, he books an appointment with sex surrogate Cheryl Cohen-Greene, leading to six sessions that blossom into romance. As their feelings deepen, they face challenges, including the jealous husband of a caregiver and Mark's own mortality. The film, based on O'Brien's true story, is a poignant exploration of love, desire, and human connection in the face of adversity.
