A young peasant maid becomes Johannes Vermeer's talented assistant and model for one of his most famous works, amidst a complex web of relationships, artistic passion, and societal constraints in 17th-century Holland. Scarlett Johansson stars as Griet, a shy girl from a precarious financial situation who finds herself entangled with the painter and his household. The film is a visually stunning period drama that explores themes of art, love, and self-discovery, set against the rich backdrop of Vermeer's iconic painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring".
