Dr. Niko "Nick" Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick) investigates giant creature attacks in the Pacific Ocean and New York City after a French nuclear test irradiates an iguana into a massive monster that wreaks havoc on the city. Authorities team up with Nick to track and destroy the creature, but their efforts are hindered by classified information about the monster's origins, which leads to further destruction before they successfully trap it and kill it using missiles fired from the Brooklyn Bridge.
