All About Lily Chou-Chou

The film follows two boys, Yūichi Hasumi (Hayato Ichihara) and Shūsuke Hoshino (Shugo Oshinari), from junior high school into their second year, as they navigate complex power dynamics in their relationship amidst the enigmatic influence of pop star Lily Chou-Chou. The narrative explores themes of bullying, trauma, and coming-of-age through a non-linear structure, featuring experimental visuals and an elliptical storyline. As Yūichi struggles with his own darkness, he finds solace in Lily Chou-Chou's ethereal music and online communities, but is ultimately forced to confront the consequences of Shusuke's actions when they intersect at a concert.
