A 16-year-old biracial girl, Tess, shakes up the life of her conservative uncle Lionel Macomb, a talk radio host, after her addict sister moves back in. As Lionel's ratings decline and his personal life unravels, Tess encourages him to confront his past and reevaluate his worldview. With the help of her aunt Val, Tess helps Lionel see the harm caused by his abrasive style, leading to a transformation that changes both their lives.
