The Soloist

A Los Angeles journalist befriends a homeless Juilliard-trained musician, Nathaniel Ayers, played by Jamie Foxx, while searching for his next article. He introduces himself to Ayers, who is playing a violin beautifully, and learns that Ayers once attended the prestigious school but was forced to leave due to schizophrenia. As Lopez writes his article about Ayers, he eventually helps him find a cello, which leads to a series of events that improve both their lives, including helping Lopez with his own family relationships.
