Bisbee '17

In 2017, Bisbee, Arizona, a town on the Mexican border, confronts its violent past by staging a dramatic re-enactment of the infamous Bisbee Deportation of 1917, in which 1,200 striking miners were forcibly taken from their homes and left to die. The film's dramatized scenes are based on subjective versions of the event, "directed" by residents with conflicting views of the deportation. Through interviews with local townspeople and personal segments torn from family history, Bisbee '17 builds towards a massive restaging of the deportation on its 100th anniversary, offering a poignant reckoning with the mistakes of the past.
