A cynical paranormal investigator checks into the infamous room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel in New York City, only to confront genuine terror that tests his skepticism. As Mike Enslin experiences bizarre and frightful events in the room, he is confronted with visions of ghosts from the past, including flashbacks of his deceased daughter and terminally ill father.
