Death and the Maiden

In a gripping drama of cat-and-mouse tension, Sigourney Weaver stars as Paulina Escobar, a woman convinced that her charming guest Dr. Miranda is a former torturer of hers during Chile's Pinochet regime. As she forces him to confront the past, Ben Kingsley delivers a nuanced portrayal of the conflicted doctor, leading to a heart-stopping climax that leaves both Paulina and the audience questioning the true nature of justice and revenge. Directed with masterful subtlety by Roman Polanski, "Death and the Maiden" is a thought-provoking thriller that probes the complexities of human relationships and the devastating consequences of unchecked emotions.
